4 things that caught my attention this week

  1. So I don’t have time to explain the spectrum, the transition from analog to digital, and how it all affects journalism and communications. What I can tell you is that the angle that the theatre community cares about is one that I haven’t thought about. Wireless microphones, like those used in live performance, fall under this Wireless Spectrum debacle and here’s why it matters http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57488618-94/wireless-spectrum-what-it-is-and-why-you-should-care/
  2. 1990s girl group TLC’s former manager Pebbles is relentless in her pursuit of crazy, sexy, cool money. She was their manager under their first two albums and she took them for all that they could make. She made them pay $3 million for their name when they fired her as their manager. Since the TLC biopic came out on VH1 Pebbles has been threatening to sue the group for slander because she did not like the way that she was portrayed in the film. Here she is on The Wendy Williams Show trying to be relevant again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O3VHdcLpTQ
  3. A dating coach/author by the name of Justin Lookadoo spoke at a Texas high school about dating and evoked some strong reactions from the students http://jezebel.com/smart-texas-high-schoolers-lambast-dickhead-lecturer-on-1464428854. For extra kicks take the quiz http://www.rudateable.com/cool_quizzes.php.
